I turned Max & Ruby 0004 into a regular story using Inferkit
It was just this Christmas that went by, and things were getting busy. I had to start buying presents for the whole family. I had just finished shopping, but I still needed to grab a present for my little cousin. She is not very hard to shop for since my cousin is 4. She likes things like Peppa Pig and My Little Pony.
She really liked, and I say liked for a reason, Max & Ruby. So, when I decided to go looking for a present, I figured something like a Max & Ruby DVD would have been perfect since she liked to watch it on a daily basis. However, Christmas meant that many of the online DVDs were sold out on most places. I went to look on eBay as well but figured I could not trust what condition the DVDs would have been in. So I was stuck in a rut for a while until that package arrived. When I opened it, there were two DVDs in it. I picked up one of them, and there was a note on the inside. I will start with the more standard letter. It was titled “Max & Ruby: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know.” The message on the back was also very funny. The title is a little too generic. I would not be surprised if people thought this was from Big Bird or Elmo, because they are popular. However, I think it will appeal more to younger children, like my little cousin. I would say that the first question that comes to mind is “Why would you give me a DVD about Max & Ruby when you do not even watch the show?” However, the video is a good introduction. I think that it is more for a more advanced audience, as it says on the back. Also, it is more than enough to explain the show to the average viewer. The second question I would ask is “Why does a 4-year-old like Max & Ruby?” The answer is simple. It is cute. It has funny characters, and the dialog is adorable. It does have a bit of some adult humor in it, as there is swearing and talks of marriage. It is not over the top, but for a show geared towards kids it has enough humor. I also think that it is a bit clever, as it makes reference to all sorts of things in pop culture. For example, there is a mention of Mickey Mouse. The next question that comes to mind is “Why doesn’t your grandmother like Max & Ruby?” The answer is “You do not have to get along with everyone all the time.” However, I feel that the title of the show, Max & Ruby, is rather misleading, as there are no Max or Ruby, per se. There is just Max and Ruby. They seem to get along just fine, but there is not really anything that is obvious that Max and Ruby love each other. They are just siblings. I feel that the creators should have named it something like “It’s Ruby’s and Max’s World, and Not Both of Their Worlds.” I do not think it would sell nearly as well. I do not think that this video does a very good job of explaining why the series is so successful. It was not really explained, and I feel that if they had, it would be an easier sell for anyone. The videos also try to explain Max & Ruby’s upbringing a little. I feel that a little is too much. It was definitely touching, but I think that if it had been just one or two lines about it I could have gotten the idea. The third question I would ask is “Why are you giving this to me?” The answer to this one is also very simple. Since the video was such an intro, I thought it was fitting. Also, it was $4, and I did not want to lose that amount of money. This DVD, although not as interesting as the ones I can get at the library, still holds a place in my collection. I can watch it over and over and over again. Thank you very much, My Uncle Stephen!
